Indian equity markets will remain closed on Friday, October 2, on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will not conduct trading during the day, with activity set to resume next week now.The regular trading session for Indian equities runs from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm, while the pre-open session begins at 9:00 am.

The NSE and BSE remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to exchange-declared trading holidays.Trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will also remain suspended in both sessions on October 2, according to information available on the exchange’s website.

The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for the full trading day.Upcoming stock market holidays in 2026The Indian stock market has 16 scheduled trading holidays in 2026, of which 11 have already passed.
