Billionaire Mukesh Ambani is taking Jio Platforms to the public markets as the telecom and digital services arm of his Reliance Industries empire moves closer to what could be India’s largest-ever IPO.The company is reportedly planning to raise around Rs 37,700 crore, with the issue expected to open for subscription on October 21 and a proposed price band of Rs 1,150–1,220 per share.
At a reported valuation of around Rs 11 trillion ($114 billion), Jio’s scale, growth prospects and competitive position are set to be closely watched by investors.The proposed listing comes amid a buoyant but increasingly selective IPO market, where valuations and the sustainability of growth are facing greater scrutiny.Against this backdrop, here’s a SWOT analysis of Jio Platforms based on what the draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) reveals;ALSO READ: Jio Platforms IPO: Rs 37,700 crore issue likely to open on Oct 21STRENGTHSMarket leadership at scaleJio had 524.4 million customers as of March 31, 2026, making it India’s largest digital connectivity player, according to the DRHP.
Its 4G and 5G subscriber base was approximately 1.4 times that of the second-largest player.Jio carried around 60% of India’s wireless data traffic in Fiscal 2026.
Citing the Analysys Mason Report, the company said its network carried more mobile data globally, excluding China, than any other network during the year.Jio added around 27 million net active mobility customers in Fiscal 2026, excluding machine-to-machine connections, about three times the additions made by the second-largest player.Digital ecosystemJio operates across connectivity, content, financial services, cloud and AI.The company says its digital gateway enables consumers and businesses to access products and services across multiple digital categories through a single platform.
It also says this allows it to distribute additional services to its existing customer base at low incremental customer acquisition costs.During IPL 2026, more than 198.7 million viewers accessed IPL content through an integrated JioHotstar package with Jio connectivity services.
Jio also provides Jio Unlimited 5G users access to the Google AI Pro plan at no additional cost for 18 months.The company plans to distribute Reliance Enterprise Intelligence’s enterprise AI products to businesses in India.Technology capabilitiesJio had 11,303 full-time employees in its digital products and technology development team as of March 31, 2026, representing about 40% of its overall workforce.The company and its subsidiaries had applied for 6,817 patents covering areas including 4G, 5G, 6G, cloud-native core network architectures and AI-driven network automation.Jio’s technology investments include 6G research, AI-driven network automation through JioBrain, cloud-native platforms and digital services.Revenue growth and profitabilityJio reported revenue from operations of Rs 1,46,885.3 crore and EBITDA of Rs 76,255.4 crore in Fiscal 2026, translating into an EBITDA margin of 51.91%.Revenue from operations grew at a 15.79% CAGR between Fiscal 2024 and Fiscal 2026, while EBITDA grew at a 17.79% CAGR.Net leverage declined from 0.88 times in Fiscal 2024 to 0.36 times in Fiscal 2026.Reliance group relationships and brandJio has links with the broader Reliance ecosystem across retail, media and entertainment.The company has a master distribution agreement with Reliance Retail for telecommunications services through its pan-India retail network.
Its technology platform is also used by JioHotstar alongside its in-house technology stack.The Jio brand is used across consumer-facing businesses including JioMart, AJIO, JioHotstar and Jio-bp.
